What to do with a Shaker box: Part 2

Also known in their day as “pantry boxes,” Shaker boxes were used to store dry provisions like beans, and when not in use, the boxes would be nested and stored away like we do today with our plastic ware. (I offered to potential customers at our last farmer’s market to sell them a box with a pre-lost lid to match their current containers, but no one took me up on it. Weird).

There is no historic record of anyone in the 1800s using Shaker boxes to store their car keys or TV remote controls, but that doesn’t make it a bad idea. Making these items more findable might even reduce some household friction!
